Speed Painting Challenge - ''It's Dusk in the Pleasure Gardens of the Samphire King''

I had a lot of fun with this one, gave me a chance to try out some preset brushes and the original image is a bit bigger but I cropped it down to focus on the ''king'' figure in the center. Took me about 15 mins.

WIMR - Modeling Progression Render Shots

WIMR - Learning how to make a glass effect on Maya.

Since Dale Chihuly's work is glass. I wanted to replicate this in my work. So after a little research on Youtube I learnt how to make an object look like glass, or at least like a marble. It's actually really easy, just needed to know what material to apply to the object and adjust a few colour settings and voila! Glassy objects.

WIMR - Progression Post.

Completely forgetting to post anything. I have comprised a progression post containing everything I have done so far to wards completing the retake.

@Phil - Final Presentation. (Re-Posted)

Noticed a little hic-cup with the font in the previous post - this is the edited version saved as a PDF and uploaded to preserve the structure I made it at.

(Note to Phil - I assume by your comment on the last post that this is okay and good to go :) I am relieved.)

WIMR - Production Art 1

First production art. Glass House.

Speed Painting Challenge Entrance 1 - Edgar Allen Poe's "The Masque of the Red Death"

Today I finally had the time to participate in the speed paint challenge, so my first painting is for Edgar Allen Poe's "The Masque of the Red Death". As the story is based on death and mystery. I though a mysterious figure or face to be the front cover image. Also the blood spatter background to imitate the death. I really enjoyed this task. Its a nice break from doing the resit task.

Concept 2 - A little concert wouldn't go amis.

A little concert inside a concert hall. No reason why not. And not a lot of people like to live next to a theatre.

@Phil WIMR - Concept Art 1 Dalchilanta

So the basic colours I used in this work shows how simple it is to define the shapes in Chihuly's work, as well as imitate the colors he uses in both his paintings and his sculptures. I really like the simplicity of it as its going to be hard enough to make glass in maya anyway. It reminds me of Atlantis. Hence the obscure name. Dalchilanta :)

@Phil WIMR - Some potential Concept sketechs.

So I have been away a little while and just got back today. And I started working on a couple of concepts. Or as I rather call them ''Larger Thumbnails'' as its easier to construct a ''environment'' on a larger scale. I used some of the silhouettes I made to make some buildings. Then I went and looked at his paintings and some photos of his sculptures, the two I have yet to finish are starting to look promising. I think before I think about colour I need to figure out how to paint in a ''glassy'' effect to take in the artworks origin material.

WIMR - Thumbnails 25-41

This time I decided to do the silhouettes with a brush and get the shapes turned into actual potential building arrangements. Using darker colors to shade out parts where the buildings would be shaded or something.
